Hold the Brownies

The government wants to control the bake sales at our schools. You read that right,the government wants to control the bake sale at our schools. I was amazed by this news story. 9.8% unemployment,a deficit so large I can't even write the number,gas prices out of sight,social security on the brink of bankruptcy,homelessness,hunger,drug addition and a crime rate that is off the charts but we will regulate the brownies !
Mrs Obama is championing this bit of legislation. The reason; childhood obesity. She feels that by limiting the number of bake sales a school is allowed to have will help with this problem. The school fundraisers selling this demon food are killing our children. The fact that their parents take them to every fast food restaurant in town and buy them all kinds of junk food is not the primary cause. It is those insidious bake sales ! The fact that these same parents allow their children to sit in front of the TV playing video games for hours is not the problem. The fact that at some schools the children are not allowed to play outside for fear of child predators has nothing to do with it. She did suggest alternative sales, lettuce and carrot sales would be a great alternative ! Yeah right that'll raise a ton of money.
I just find it amazing that at out of all the possible causes she could back she chooses bake sales. Are you serious ? Does she really want her legacy to be "The Woman who stopped Bake Sales ?"
The government doesn't need to be involved in this,period ! I feel there just might be more pressing issues to be addressed. Do not waste my tax dollars on nonsense. What is next; controlling what retailers can sell ? Should we just ban candy sales and provide severe penalties to those caught eating chocolate ?

I don't often talk about politics but this one was irresistible. Regulate Bake Sales ? Gimme a break.
