You gotta be kiddin' me. I turn on the news and they are talking about the recent scandal with the secret service. Some have been fired and others may lose their job as well. Everyone seems so surprised that this could happen. Imagine,men behaving badly in a foreign country. Consuming alcohol and soliciting the services of prostitutes. This group of type " A " personality men where doing a bit of partying before the arrival of the president. And to make the situation worse it has been determined that this may not be the first time. Well, we know how to fix that ! We will send them to school.
That's right they are being sent to school. All of the secret service agents are going to be required to attend a two day ethics course. So,at taxpayers expense we will be paying for them to go to school to learn about ethics. I'm not sure of their salary but I'm betting it will be a considerable expense. Not to mention what the government has to pay the instructors. And just what will be taught in this class ? Proper manners and common sense ? A set of values. Ethics is defined as a moral philosophy defining what is right and wrong. Pardon me but shouldn't they already know that ? But that is not all. No, they are going to institute a rule. No drinking alcohol ten hours before your shift starts. In other words, no cookies before bedtime. That ought to teach them.
I understand the problem. Just what do you do ? You can't dismiss everyone. You have to show the public that some action is being taken. Announcing you are sending them all to school is something I suppose. I just think the whole thing is ridiculous. Terminate those engaged in the bad behavior and let it be known this will not be tolerated. Period, end of story.
