An App for that

I was listening to the morning news. They were reporting the increased incidence of people leaving their child in parked cars. Several deaths have occurred this summer. They all say, " they just forgot. " How you can forget your child strapped in a car seat is beyond me. But the answer is at hand. A company named Kars4Kids released a new app today ! That's right, leave your child in your car, not anymore there is an app for that ! I listened with interest as they explained how your bluetooth enabled phone sync's with the bjuetooth in your car. When your phone disconnects from the bluetooth in your car an alert is sent. You are reminded that your child is in the car. It works because, you know, you would never forget your bluetooth enabled phone ! I mean, what is more important ? The company that released this app says it, " empowers parents with technology " to protect their children." Well if we had those flying cars that folded into a briefcase like the Jetsons we wouldn't be having these problems. I guess we have to settle for this technology for now.
I won't argue that this app is a waste of time. Anything that can potentially save a child's life is worth having. It is only the need for such a device that I find troubling. The company says research shows that this could happen to anyone. If you have ever left your keys in the car, you might forget your child. That is what the company says but I don't believe that. The company also blames rear facing child safety seats placed in the rear seat of the car. The child is out of sight, out of mind. Ah, never happened to me but then I wasn't distracted by bluetooth enabled phones and the internet while driving my car. The company line is in today's world with the multitasking professionals it is easy to forget. My first " task " was always the care of my children. There were not just a check on a list. Makes me wonder what the world is coming too. But then I'm an old fart and know nothing about raising children. My only hope is that when or if I get Alzheimer's there is an app for that ! Could sync it with my Jazz E scooter.
