Changing weather

The temperatures have taken a dive, as they are oft to do in January. It is the main topic of conversation. I chuckle at those that feign surprise, happens every year, and look in wonder at those still wearing shorts. There are some hardy souls ! Yes the extreme cold is an annoyance just as the extreme heat is. There is little man can do to alter that. Although, if you subscribe to the global warming theory we are working on the cold.
Be that as it may, it is January in the northern section of our country and that means winter.
And with the winter comes the dreaded flu season. Hear an awful lot about that too. Everyone got there flu shot ? This is the worst flu season we have seen in a number of years. I hear people talking about how this cold will kill the flu virus. This cold should help get rid of that menace. Not being a biologist I can only assume there may be truth in that statement. Seems like extreme cold would kill a virus or at least inhibit growth. The whole problem with that theory is, wouldn't you have to be outside in that temperature for it to work ? From what I see, everyone is huddled together indoors, staying warm and sharing the virus !  I see those outside bundled up with even their mouths covered. No cold air entering there to interact with the virus.
When I got up this morning a thin layer of snow was on the ground. Beautiful in the early morning light while it is still pristine. Not much more than a dusting though. Now that will surely kill those bad germs. I'm thinking a good roll in the snow would do more to prevent colds and flu than all those shots ! Less painful and a whole lot more fun. I wonder if Eskimos get the flu ? Surely no virus could live in an Igloo. Mom always told us kids, get in here before you catch your death. We didn't know we were chasing it. Wouldn't the germs be trying to get inside as well ? Cold kills germs. Oh well that's the way it is. In the spring we can worry about allergies. Stay indoors when the weather is warm. Mother nature is a fickle woman.
