On TV

Wouldn't it be wonderful if life was really like on TV. Most of the shows involving families depict a life filled with humor and love. Even the poorest of families never really go hungry or do not get medical care when they need it. All the shows I grew up watching were that way. My Three Sons had no mother but they had Uncle Charlie ! There was plenty of money to go around. Leave it to Beaver. A perennial troublemaker but always with good intentions. At worst he got a stern talking to from his Dad. No corporal punishment there.
The Waltons. The perfect family. Poor and struggling they managed to own a saw mill, not to mention a mountain, all attended school and later college and nursing school. Writers and musicians abounded in the family. Grand Parents, parents and children all living together in harmony. Each one respecting the others and offering encouragement and advice.
Yes television life is great. Very seldom do you see anyone working and when they are it is at a job were they have fun all day. There lives are full of colorful characters. In the end everyone has a wonderful day.
In more recent years you had the Romanos. everybody loves Raymond. What a joyful life they had. Even when Robby gets gored by a bull it is all laughs. Very amusing. His parents drove through the living room and it is a hoot.
But isn't that what it is really all about ? An escape into a world where all is fun and games. Where even the most serious of situations is reason for laughter. I enjoy watching TV land. Archie Bunker and Edith. Ralph Cramden. Gilligans Island. The list goes on. The names have changed over the years but the theme is the same. Lighten up. It is not as bad as you think. The whole problem with my life is I have a poor staff of writers. I'm in a situation but it is definitely not a comedy ! Not really a drama either now that I think about it.
More like a pilot show that just goes on and on. Suppose I'll have to hang on to see how it all turns out.
