Evidently

 Well it is the fourth of July. America celebrates her independence from government oppression. That is what it is really all about. Taxation without representation and all that jazz. The King was unjust. So we fought for and obtained our freedom. Did you know that King George went mad and was removed from the crown following that. Yup, we drove him nuts. We Americans have been acting a little crazy ourselves here lately. We are so busy being the land of the free, that we are neglecting our own safety. But that is another topic for another day. I was just thinking about it being the holiday. We have already held our fourth of July parade. The fireworks for Greensboro got postponed and I haven't heard when they will take place. Most businesses are open and it will pretty much be a regular day. Oh, people are at the beach and enjoying the three day weekend but that is pretty much it, a three day weekend like all the others. It is alright to be Patriotic as long as you don't act like a patriot ! That could get you labeled a bigot or worse. But then again, another topic for another day.
  " When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation." That is the opening paragraph to the declaration of independence. It is merely stating our intentions. Reading that document further you will see a list of grievances, the majority beginning with the singular " He " meaning the King. For we must remember that the King was the government. 
 The King was ultimately responsible. We went on to dissolve that. We formed our own government. We based our government on the Laws of Nature and Natures God. That is those " truths " that we hold to be self evident in the following paragraph of that document. They don't require an explanation. Well at least they didn't then, but we seem to be trying awful hard nowadays to do just that. I wonder why that is when we have made so much progress ?  My theory being we are trying to define Natures God. We have been studying Natures Laws for centuries, we call that Science today. Personally, I believe if you ever fully understand Natures Laws, you would then know the mind of Natures God. I don't believe man is capable of any such thing but we like to fool ourselves into thinking otherwise.
 In our newly formed government just who is ultimately responsible ? The answer is, the people. The citizens of our nation are the ones that form the nation and the government. The key word here being " citizens. " And who are the citizens ? There are the ones that swear true faith and allegiance to the same. We are a nation of Americans. The founding fathers and their families chose to become Americans, in fact, they declared it ! They said they dissolved the political bands. They declared themselves to be Americans. Then having established their government they began to live the dream. The dream that is America.
 It is that dream that we celebrate today. We declared that dream to be self evident because we all shared it. At least all the patriots did, the Tories not so much. The Tories supported the King and interesting enough they are the conservative political party in Great Britain today. They haven't changed much over the centuries. The Whig party that you hear about has since dissolved and for all practical purposes no longer exists. It was replaced with Americans. We the people." And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor." That is the concluding line to that amazing document. The document that identified the underlining principles of being an American. We declared that We, the people, are responsible for our actions and for government. It is a solemn obligation and a solemn trust to our heirs. Strange how something that is so self evident is also so tumultuous. Happy Fourth and God Bless America.
