Getting old is irritating. Most of the irritation comes from the younger crowd. When they start to offer advice and telling you, you are wrong Things that we have known for longer than they have been alive ! Now that's irritating. It is especially irritating when they begin to preach about moral and ethical behavior. You know that isn't what you taught them. That isn't how they were raised. Just where did they learn that nonsense ? Probably hanging out with the wrong crowd and watching the wrong movies. Haven't heard much about reading books of substance. Harry Potter or some other such foolishness. Apparently they haven't been reading the Bible much. Reminds me of a Hank Williams song, Dust on the Bible. The first verse goes like this, " I went into a home one day just to see some friends of mine
Of all their books and magazines, not a Bible could I find
I asked them for the Bible when they brought it, what a shame
For the dust was covered o'er it, not a fingerprint was plain "
A lot of the knowledge I have gained I got from that book and then they want to say they know better, irritating. Then they start sending " text messages " on some Instagram thing and talking to someone named Siri ! Irritating ! Can't you just call them on the phone and why does Siri need to be involved. They get tattoos everywhere and use language that would embarrass a sailor ! They try to tell me it is art and everybody uses that language. Irritating.
Even setting all that aside there is the medical conditions that come with aging. Most of those are just irritating. Hair turns grey and begins to fall out. Joints begin to creak and squeak. The television ads keep telling you about all the " supplements " you probably need to take. Golden years and senior moments, just irritating ! And then they want to know why you are so grouchy. Is it any wonder ? Darn kids irritate you near to death and then complain you are grouchy. Or the more irritating dismissal of your opinion. You're too old to have any opinion, you're outdated !
The Fifth Commandment says: “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you These youngsters need to read that passage carefully. It irritates me when they don't do that.
Yup, this getting older is an irritation alright and I don't think there is a potion or cream for it. Maybe that medical marijuana the youngsters are so fond of would help. Problem is I have enough senior moments as it is, smoking that stuff would only make it worse. Far out man. My generation advocated for sex, drugs, and rock and roll. A vast majority of the musicians died from that combination. There was a song popular back in the day, where have all the flowers gone, my question is, where have all the old hippies gone ? Well, we're around just irritated most of the time.
