It's a matter of trust. That is what I feel anyway. Can we trust the media, the government, and each other? It's my thinking that trust has been lost and that is very difficult to regain. Pfizer has been given permission to sell their vaccine to children. You hear the news reporters and politicians making the claim that the vaccine is free. We all know that isn't the truth. Pfizer, J&J, and Moderna have all profited from the vaccine. Not one of those corporations have developed that vaccine, for free, nor distributed it for free. The government, your tax money, has paid for all of that. That isn't free!
You hear all this talk of misinformation. Is any information wrong? Well, it certainly can be wrong or misleading, depending upon the presentation of that information. Still without comparison how can we make a judgement? Everything is relative. Covid has a survivability rate well over 98%. Would you say that is the public perception? I think you would have to say no, the perception is that Covid is deadly! Is it? Yes, in a little over 1% of the cases. Which data set is misinformation? Neither, both are correct. The difference being what? The presentation of the facts. The seasonal flu kills over thirty thousand people a year, well except last year, when it hit a ten year low. No free vaccine for the seasonal flu, no mask mandates, no social distancing. One would have to deduce that thirty thousand a year dying from that disease is an acceptable figure.
Now it was reported that over 740,000 died from Covid-19, or that Covid -19 was a contributing factor. Another way of looking at that is, 740,000 didn't actually die from Covid-!9, it was just a contributing factor. It's like saying guns are killing people. The truth is people are killing people using a gun. It's also true that six out of ten times it is a person killing themselves, using a gun! The gun is a contributing factor right? Yet, the blame is placed solely on the gun, remove the gun and people can't shoot themselves. True, but they can still kill themselves. Does the manner of that death make a difference?
And then we hear the mantra, trust the science. When science is tied to profit and power my advice is to be skeptical. No doubt a lot of money to be made with this pandemic. The misinformation being spread about it is that it is free. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Pfizer has been paid 4.1 billion and Moderna 3.5 billion. It is estimated that a total of 60 billion has been spent on vaccines. Free? Science is pretty profitable wouldn't you say? And no one else can manufacture and sell a vaccine without the approval of the CDC. Very convenient. And then I hear, trust us. Yeah, I'm pretty skeptical. Of course then I'm called a science denier. I don't deny the science, I question it. The first polio vaccine administered to over 200,000 children in the United States caused them to get polio! Yes, that happened, Google the Cutter incident. Science isn't infallible. The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are experimental therapies never used on human subjects before. That's a scientific fact. Using what is called messenger rna to trick your immune system into responding to a disease/infection that isn't present. The fact is science is unsure of the long term effect this may have so if you get those you are part of the big experiment. The J&J is the traditional form of a vaccine, utilizing some of the virus to activate your immune response. I admit that is a bit oversimplified but it is my understanding of it anyhow. I do have a tendency to trust the old tried and true before placing faith in new technology. That way in life and in science. If it ain't broken, don't fix it.
It is all a matter of trust. I do not trust the main stream media to report all the facts. I certainly do not trust politicians when it comes to my health care. Too much money, power and control involved there. Too many contradictions in the science as well. If the vaccine works why the masks, the social distance, the mandates. If it works you are protected, if you are not, why get the vaccine in the first place? Is it like only being a little pregnant? You will still get covid, only just a little bit? You have better than a 99% chance you will survive covid without a vaccine. That's the science. Everything else is based on probability and statistics. I have a one in 250 million chance of winning the lottery, but buy a ticket anyway. The science says I'm silly for doing so. I have a much better chance of surviving covid and the government wants to give me a free ticket! In fact, they are insisting I play the game. No thanks, I'll remain skeptical.
