animated

If a product is manufactured and contains no defects, it does exactly what it is designed to do unfailingly and with absolutely no malfunctions, should that manufacturer be held accountable if the product is misused? There are some advocating for just that. The mayor of Baltimore is among them. He wants a repeal of the law protecting gun manufacturers from liability. In short, he wants the ability to sue the manufacturer because you chose to misuse the product. The issue isn't with the product however, it functions exactly as advertised, the problem is with the person using it. Should I be able to sue the knife company if you cut me? Can I sue Facebook because you wrote something offensive on my page? I fail to see an explanation for any of that. Anything manufactured or even naturally occurring can be misused. I can hit you with a rock or a stick! And who or what is responsible for that? Well, it isn't the fault of the inanimate object that much is certain. That only leaves one possible scenario, whomever caused that inanimate object to become animated. When a tree is blown down and goes through your roof, we call that an act of God. When someone points a gun at someone else and that person gets shot it is not the fault of the gun! The gun simply did what it was designed to do.
It is just simple common sense. Those that wish to do harm will find a way. This notion that we can somehow ban guns is just foolishness. It is estimated that there are over four hundred million guns in America! There is a good probability that there are more than that. It doesn't matter if you believe there should be or not, there is. You are not going to change that! People that want guns are going to get a gun. It is no different than getting anything else people may want. If there is a will, there is a way. It is as simple as that. What activities are the most prolific? Those involving some sort of vice is the quick answer. The forbidden fruit is always the sweetest. That doesn't mean we can simply cut down all the fruit trees. If you choose to eat the fruit and die, that's your choice. That is how I see that. You are accountable for your choices. If I crash my car, it isn't the fault of the automobile.
The law is written to define what is and is not acceptable in society. It is illegal, always has been, to harm another person simply because you are upset with that person. The tool used to accomplish that is not the important part in that legislation. If I use my fist or a bazooka it makes no difference. It is an assault. If we were to ban every tool every used to harm others, we wouldn't have much left! First, we need to get rid of those rocks! It was a rock that was used to murder the first person. It wasn't an act of God as Cain picked the rock up and hit Abel with that. He was responsible for animating the rock. The rock didn't kill Abel, Cain did. Same thing with a gun of any type. There is no such thing as an assault rifle! People assault each other using a variety of tools, semi-automatic weapons with a clip and that are black in color are one of them. The individual using the tool is the one responsible for the action and the result of that action. Yes, sometimes things happen because of an act of God. Those are the things we have no explanation for. You can't blame the rain for being water, or the wind for blowing. I can blame you if dump a bucket of water over my head. You animated that bucket. Doesn't matter who put the water in the bucket though. The bucket did its' job just as it was designed to do, hold that water. It isn't the buckets' fault. Common sense.
