The first one up makes the coffee. It is an unwritten rule. This morning it was my wife. Now as anyone that reads my blogs knows I have a peculator. It takes just a little bit longer than an automatic drip but well worth the wait. I went out and poured the coffee. I brought my wife her cup as well. Doing so she says, thank you I hope it as good as when you make it. My response was, it will not be. I get a look of surprise and somewhat of a scowl. Warranted you say ? I explain that to her the coffee will not taste as good, but to me it will taste better. That is because things always taste better when someone else makes them. I have no explanation as to why that should be so, it just is. It really makes little difference what it is, works with all kinds of snacks, drinks or whatever. They all taste better when someone else prepares them or brings them to you. I must say the coffee I'm sipping right now is delicious.
Have you ever waited for your spouse or significant other to get up when you want something ? I mean, you are sitting there watching television or working on the computer, thirsty. You want a drink but don't get up. As soon as your wife gets up you ask, mind getting me a drink ? And you do so with a big smile and maybe an, I love you. The whole time you watched and waited for that chance. You know you have. I have, but not because I was too lazy to go get it myself, no, but because I know how much more enjoyment I will get from having it brought to me. It is a matter of restraint and economics. Not going for instant gratification I am learning patience, and waiting for another to get it cuts down on the amount used, so it is more economical. So, you see, it truly is a wise decision to just wait. And not only that it will taste even better ! It is one of those win-win situations. The other person was getting up anyway.
There are people however that love to prepare food and drinks. They seem to get a great deal of enjoyment from that activity. All I can say to those people is, I'm here for you ! I will accept whatever is offered and enjoy it thoroughly. I will praise your efforts and offer encouragement and support. Should you find yourself needing someone to serve, I'm your man. I appreciate it. I really do. Givers need receivers and I'm a receiver. I didn't choose this position in life I was just given it. I'll do my best to accept my fate gracefully.
