Being social

What's in a name?  Heard where NYC elected a democratic socialist to be their mayor. He is the first millennial Muslim to hold the position. First just what is a democratic socialist? That's Bernie Sanders. A man that has never held a real job in his entire life. Somehow he managed to get elected first as a representative and then a senator. He has been in congress for thirty three years. His accomplishments? None, nothing of any great significance. He started his "career" as an activist, much like Barack Obama, in the fertile grounds of Chicago. Democratic socialists believe capitalism is incompatible with freedom, equality and solidarity. Read that again, that is the platform , the core belief of democratic socialism. There ultimate goal is the establishment of socialism. That is what NYC just voted for, socialism.
This man that was elected to lead NYC into a socialist state is also a Muslim. Why is that important? There are close to one million Muslims living in NYC. Almost 10% of the entire population. Granted their beliefs, their method of practicing that religion is as varied as Christians in their denominations, but some of those beliefs and practices are in direct opposition to American values and traditions. I was very young and don't remember first hand but heard those opposing Kennedy based on the fact he was a Catholic! You have to be very careful with those Papists.
It was a real concern. What if, as president, he simply did the Popes bidding? Turned out he wasn't that kind of Catholic, or so I'm told. Maybe this guy isn't that kind of Muslim. It's difficult to determine that when one of the tenets of that religion, what is called Taqiyya, teaches it is alright to lie about things under certain circumstances. You are supposed to be truthful with each other, generally speaking, but lies to smooth things out are just fine. And when talking to non-believers that practice is always acceptable. I'm told by the liberals, those supporting him, that I should just take him at his word, that I'm prejudiced if I don't. I'm somewhat familiar with the tenets of Christianity, in all its' denominations, and not one of them supports lying as a means of converting others or as a means to smooth things out.
I'm not really too concerned with that however. I use Bernie Sanders as an example. For all talk about being a democratic socialist he sure embraces capitalism on a personal level. He owns at least three homes and has a net worth well over 3 million dollars. As a democratic socialist he fully supports spending your money, giving your money away but holds onto his own with a very tight fist. He has donated to charities, some of them his own. I expect this new democratic socialist that is also a Muslim will do much the same. He got elected by promising free stuff to everyone. That's the appeal in socialism, free stuff. All you have to give up in exchange is your freedom, equality and solidarity. If you build a business, you don't own that, the government does.
It's my feeling that the vast majority of these politicians start out with good intentions. I'm going to serve my country. In this case he was born in Uganda. Mamdani identifies as a Asian - American  and a Muslim. He is a naturalized citizen. He promises a rosy future for New York City with the promises of rent freezes, universal health care, grocery stores and free busses. His plan involves taxing the top 1% of taxpayers to fund all of that. He figures that tax, (the millionaires tax) will generate about four billion dollars annually. Four billion should cover the tab for all those things. Of course the top 1% can also afford to just move out of the city as well. Might be cheaper to simply commute. But they won't do that, will they?
It's a shame he isn't a member of the LGBTQ+I transgender community for the clean sweep. He has certainly hit the majority of the other activist topics. He's all about giving you what you deserve. The rich folks will not control you any longer, we will tax them into submission! Well in my opinion those citizens in NYC will get what they deserve in the end. The loss of freedom, the loss of equity and the loss of their solidarity. But Unions are the salvation, aren't they. No, they are simply the vehicles used to defeat capitalism. Once that has been accomplished unions have fulfilled their purpose and will be dissolved. Government will control wages, earnings, and entitlements and benefits exclusively. That is the heart of Marxism. I really don't expect much will change at all. You know socialists really just want what the capitalists have. They just don't want to pay or work for it. Socialists want you to do that!
