Surviving

I was just sitting here remembering the times when we were all worried about the commies and the bomb. I'm old enough to have been one of the kids hiding under our desks at school, practicing in case that bomb did drop. Then in 1987 Ronald Reagan told those commies to just tear down this wall! They did just that in November of 1989. Just two years later, the USSR was no more. The threat of nuclear annihilation was gone! The commies had been defeated, the cold war was over.
That didn't end the threats to our existence however, far from it. The rise of the terrorists posed all kinds of unrest and issues throughout the world. It was mostly those pesky Muslim terror groups with their Jihad and all that causing the problem. Problem there was we weren't allowed to just come right out and say that. Sure Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe had issues with those practicing Islam, they were the Barbary Pirates, at least the states sponsoring them were anyway. And sure you had the Ayatollah of Iran stirring up trouble everywhere and especially here in the United States. The names have changed but a great deal of that remains today.
Still we have managed to survive. We are all survivors is the battle cry we all here today. We have become empowered to live our best lives! Despite a global pandemic which nearly destroyed all of humanity. We know about asteroids hurtling toward earth and have plans to divert their course or simply blow them up. We have a growing concern with those greenhouse gases as well. The ocean levels are rising and we will be underwater in the not too distant future unless we all go green. We all have to buy an electric car. It's the only way. Fortunately we have changed the diet of those cows thereby reducing their flatulence. Now that was a close call.
I listen to the news every morning and hear about all these things. There is unrest in the world. But I take heart knowing we have survived. Yes, there are challenges. We have a long way to go to reach utopia. At this point you can't get everything for free. You still have to pay back loans that you took out, and there are those pronouns to consider. Still I can't help but be deeply concerned, and I know many others are as well by looking at my Facebook page, we are facing yet another crisis! The cost of eggs. OMG The Waffle House has added a 50 cent surcharge for eggs. Sure the government has taxed us more, especially on that evil fossil fuel stuff, but there is an egg shortage! All that other stuff pales in comparison.
I'm offering a solution. Thanks to Al Gore and the internet I discovered this link. The Pioneers were very resourceful people and knew how to deal with all sorts of tragedies, shortages and hostilities. It's my hope that whoever reads this gets some relief from this latest obstacle to living that "best life."

I sure hope it helps.
