Motivational Philanthropy

There is much talk about the establishment of the Department of Government Efficiency; DOGE, because we seldom say the entire name of anything these days. Acronyms being the preferred method thereby displaying your superior intelligence. In my way of thinking we should have already had a department of government efficiency. The founding fathers should have included that in the constitution. But they did believe in honesty and integrity and public service. Remember they weren't paid positions, a career opportunity when they became involved in government. Senators and Congressman alike served in the interest of their peers. The founding fathers just naturally assumed those folks would spend the governments money (we the peoples money) prudently and not foolishly. They certainly didn't think anyone would abuse that position to increase their own wealth. Yes, those boys were "dreamers" long before any illegal invaders were called that.
So now Trump created that department. It has no official powers to do anything other than make recommendations. Elon Musk is heading up that unofficial department. Despite the fact he has no actual power or authority the main stream media would have us all believe that Musk is running the show. Some even calling that a "shadow" government. Imagine having a department dedicated to finding and ending waste, fraud or abuse. Very unsettling to those involved with any of that waste, fraud or abuse. It has been hidden in government bureaucracy for a very long time. I'm not blaming any one political party for that, both are guilty, and it is about time it was rooted out. That is the purpose of this department.
It is a question I have posed on several occasions; does motivation matter? That is to say, if the result is a positive one, does the motivation behind that matter. If the action benefits me while simultaneously befitting you does that matter? There is no doubt that Trump is doing that to benefit himself and his legacy. He has made great promises, as is his way, and hopes to make good on those promises. If there were someone else in that position they would do the same. The objective is to do what? Find the waste, fraud and abuse in the system as it exists today. Is that really a bad thing? The only bad thing about it is when it takes away your "motivational philanthropy." That is what we common folks know as, scratching your back so you will scratch mine. Favors and promises in return for personal gain. True even even when the "person" is an entire organization.
Trump is not, not has he ever been a politician. That is just a simple fact. Only in America could a man like Trump rise to the position of President given his background. That, like it or not, is the American dream. Now, as a non-politician Trump is willing to burn the bridges down and start building new ones. This being his final term, his last shot as it were, he is no doubt going to be even more aggressive in his approach. This is a man that has enjoyed much success in his life. He is used to getting his way and imposing his wishes upon others. That is who he is.
His goal today? To get revenge upon the very system that has attacked him repeatedly. It isn't just the Democrats, it is politicians in general. Why do you think he asked Musk to assemble a team and not Congress establishing a doge? He knows, and so do you, that Congress isn't going to cut any funding unless they are faced with no other alternative. Get the evidence, present it to the American people and Congress will have little choice. When it comes to votes or doing a favor, the votes will win out. Self preservation is the strongest motivator of all.
In less than four years Trump will be gone. Hopefully some sense of balance will have been restored in the financial department. The national debt being 32 Trillion does require a though review of the checkbook! The balance sheet needs to be closely examined! Is government being conducted in an efficient manner? I know, sounds like an oxymoron doesn't it; government efficiency. That you and I accept that should be our concern, not whose feelings are being hurt. Seriously, give that some thought. Are you really okay with government waste, fraud and abuse as just the way things are done? Really.
