If you are in my country illegally you are a criminal. That is the bottom line. It doesn't change if you evade arrest for one week or one hundred years, there is no statute of limitation on that. You are subject to immediate deportation. You may apply for a visa or refugee status from your home nation. There are policies and procedures in place for that. Of course, if you are a criminal that will carry weight on my decision to grant you permission to be in my country. Yes there really are standards to be met for entry.
