Truth is a compromise between our conscience and our god. Each of us establish truth based on our wants, not our needs. When what we want offends our God, we make that compromise. Laws do not establish morality, only enforce judgements. Laws are created to justify the compromise made. If it's legal, it's alright. That is the mentality of that logic. When we are told, don't judge, what the person is really saying to you is, don't tell me I'm wrong. Those that harbor doubt, fear judgement. They fear it because they know the truth.
Morality hinges upon the giving of self. That isn't to say you should deny yourself everything, every pleasure in life, but rather denying yourself those actions known to be harmful. Harmful to yourself and to others. Sacrifice is a personal thing, not a group activity. Sacrifices are made between you and your god. They are not made to satisfy that god, they are made in the realization of truth. The heart of sacrifice is in the acceptance of truth, not a compromise of values. It isn't a trade off, a bargain made, it is a gift, an acknowledgement freely given.
For any of what I have written to be true you have to accept the existence of god, whatever you conceive god to be. God is the force of good in the universe. The positive. Perhaps mankind is the negative force. I do believe we are all energy. Energy cannot be created or destroyed. That is the eternal life so widely sought after. Electrical theory says that currents flows from the positive to the negative. But, less known is the fact that electrons ( electrons create the current) flow from the negative to the positive. If we think of our god as a positive force and ourselves as negative we should be flowing to that positive! The path of morality one might call that. From negative to positive, from bad to good.
It is a never ending cycle, eternal life. Whether or not we are aware of that I can't say with any certainty. It is a question I have asked myself many times over the years, will I know. Will I be aware that I'm dead? I only believe I'm alive because this state of existence is what we call that. It really is like everything else, dependent upon whatever name we apply. Who decided that blue was blue or red was red? Who decided which way was north? Man has taken to naming things by mutual agreement, as a means to understand each other.
The Bible tells the story of Babel, when God confused the people so they could not understand one another. As a result the people scattered across the earth. The reason God chose to do so is left up to individual interpretation. For me it was simply an explanation provided by those writing the Bible. An attempt to answer a question. I do not believe every word, every story and parable written in the Bible came from the mouth of God. No, the book was written by man. That doesn't negate any of the truths contained within those pages however. Our conscience is created by our God. Truth is a compromise between our conscience and our god. An internal struggle.
